A Tale of Two Eyebrows
A proud and ecstatic moment it was indeed when I was offered the role of Miss Stephanie in the Concord Players production of To Kill A Mockingbird. I gratefully accepted and began the constant work on my accent which I am currently doing as I type. (Just imagine all of these words, in a southern accent) 
So, costumes, shoes, accents, rehearsals, sets, the whole shebang comes and goes and we get to our first dress rehearsal. I doll myself up, pencil in my eyebrows as the ladies of the day were known to do, and do my thing.
Well, though my performance was perhaps as commonplace as missionary teas, apparently my eyebrows stole the effin show. Upon arriving the next day for dress rehearsal, my director said, “I gotta fever and the only cure…is More Eyebrow!”
I did as I was told and went on stage looking as though two caterpillars were doing battle on my face.
he jokes flew all night, mostly from my mouth, but nonetheless. I looked like Joan Crawford on Mescaline…as though Joan Crawford had taken Mescaline, not witnessed by someone on mescaline, though I most certainly would have looked LIKE Joan Crawford to a person ON Mescaline. Not my point.
After the show, I went out for drinks, but did I wipe the glory of my brow away like a mark of shame to be hidden from the world? Hell no.
